helping people of all ages . . .

Carmen Martino is a dedicated clinician practicing what she loves...helping people of all ages to develop and use their communication skills and to overcome challenges that affect those skills.  She believes that being able to interact effectively with others, and to understand the world, allows people to reach their fullest potential.

With over 25 years of experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist, Carmen brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from working in both public and private sectors.  She has worked in various settings, including hospitals, rehabilitation centres for children and adults, nursing and retirement homes, group homes, preschools and daycares, elementary schools, as well as private services provided in homes, schools at all levels, work places, and in the community. She is registered in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologist's of Ontario (CASLPO #1900).

Since receiving her  M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Vermont in 1990, she has continually added new knowledge and skills that she brings to her assessment  and therapy services.

She provides client-centred assessments and therapy and believes that clients are partners in their development and rehabilitation.

When she is not working with clients, she volunteers her time and energy in promoting her profession through the Acquired Brain Injury Interest Group of the Ontario Association of Speech-Language Pathologists & Audiologists (OSLA).  She also served for 5 years on the board of directors of the Ontario Rehab Alliance (ORA), striving for auto insurance that fairly compensates the injured.

In addition to her professional activities, Carmen is active in her community, nearby Milton, where she is involved with the Milton Film Festival, ran a book club for several years, and, with her husband, is actively engaged in environmental conservation efforts on their home property, including installing rain barrels and planting a pollinator garden!  She has also volunteered overseas with World Vision and locally with Habitat for Humanity and the Toronto Food Bank.

She is proud mommy of Australian Labradoodle, Sammy, who is "in training" to be a St. John's Ambulance Therapy Dog!
